For all my life I have been familiar with one of your symptoms. I have Plan A in my head. At some point, plan A is not working. Sometimes, it would be better to abandon Plan A and opt for totally different plan B. But I'm kinda stuck in Plan A, and proceed to come up with variants to Plan A, many of which do not make things better. Maybe two days later I will think: why did I not abandon Plan A? There used to be a quiz programme where contestants tried to answer as many questions as possible in two minutes. If the bell rang when the quizmaster was in the middle of a question, you could still answer it. Famously, the quizmaster always said: time is up, BUT I'VE STARTED SO I'LL FINISH. That's the dreaded heuristic which has ruined many a plan.
Christina, you are amazing! Maybe not necessarily at all the baking but at describing your experience of the baking! I could almost smell your triumphs!
Thanks for another fine story, and I hope you and Andy enjoy a fine Thanksgiving.
You are still a terrific writer, though! Thanks for sharing. Happy holiday!
Thank you!
Happy Thanksgiving, and BNTYN!
I LOVE the story! You continue to write so well! (Better than most of us!) The baking will come!

I so totally understand this now, although I never would have before. Sigh. It's like being trapped inside the Sunk Costs Fallacy!
