I feel like everyone could use a little boost at this stage of the apocalypse, and so - as I nibble on the pretzel chips and humus that constitute roughly 80% of my Spring Migraine Anti-Nausea diet - I am delighted to share some recents wins.
Embroidering is fun! Start with one of those crewel work kits you find at any good craft store, because it’ll come with everything you need AND instructions! Just make sure not super cheap, or the instructions won’t make sense because they’ll have been auto-translated 😝
This was so delightful to read. Glad you found your way back to conferencing. That feeds the soul in all the best ways. Love that you shared you embroidery.
Congratulations on your brain wins and craft wins! Getting to think feels like a drink of fresh water! I hope you get more philosophy opportunities soon and that your brain keeps rewiring posthaste!
Thank you! The improvement since I had the brain stent to bring down my intercranial pressure has been noticeable - we’ll see if I’ve not plateaued or if I get to keep improving. 😊
I’m highly hopeful you will. I’m so glad to hear the stent helped (also, eeep for the trauma of that). The brain is pretty dang good at optimizing and finding workarounds.
It remains the most complicated sweater I’ve ever made - especially since there wasn’t a PATTERN for such a thing! David also really wanted the rebel symbol on the back, which involved knitting graph paper. I had not known there WAS knitting graph paper before that. 😝
Andy's card is adorable and your rendering of it on the t-shirt is top notch work! Well done!!
Thank you! 😊
Oh another Heated Rivalry fan 😍😍 loved this piece. I’m promising myself one day I’ll learn how to embroider too.

Wow! Beautiful work! and i LOVE the story!
Thank you! ☺️
Congrats on the finished project and especially the redevelopment of your neural pathways!
[And thanks for posting that second Sebastian scene, an A+. Those shapely sword grips and pommels look…ready.]
Omg right?!? I need to look up the artist for that one, because it’s so *chef’s kiss* that I have to imagine he’s got some other stunners.
Lmk who it is
Ok, first and most importantly, it's at the Detroit Art Institute!!! And it's by Andrea Solario, "Italian, 1465 - before 1524"
Fantastic! Thx!
Wonderful to hear of your progress!! Go, Noggin! ❤️

Ten-year-old me is really upset that you didn't make him one of those rebel flight jackets, too.

The t-shirt is amazing!
Thank you! I’m so happy with how it turned out ☺️
Very encouraging update. Keep up your needle crafts --which I'm sure are just as nice for your noggin as your forays back into philosophy.
