What a journey! You describe it so well. Our brains are incredible. I do not have ABI, but I don’t retain what I read very well. It’s wonderful that you have ‘retained’ that gift! As a visual artist, that’s where my brain kicks in and the kinds of things I retain. Great illustration for this post.

You have been through what, for so many of us, is as unthinkable as forgetting how to breathe. Even as I write that I think it might be an asshole simile. But reading books is everything to me as it is to you. It has been my livelihood for so long (reading, editing, writing) and my life's blood forever. Thank you for writing about this. Thank you.

Lucian and his friends ADORE the Wings of Fire books, even though they've "aged out" by now. They're still huge fans. Something about those dragons.)

Not an asshole simile at all! It has felt at times like forgetting how to breathe: like an absence of oxygen. And ask Lucien who his favorite dragon is and report back! I’m a big fan of Sunny. :-)

Once again, your generosity in sharing your journey, enlarges appreciation of you and our bio-psycho-social-spiritual capacities as human creatures. Thank you, Christina.

Yes! It’s actually out now, so what I should really do is find the citation info and get a “real” PDF for you. Please feel free to ping me here or FB if I don’t remember to do this. :-)

The details of your journey are simultaneously heartbreaking and admirable. There is a nascent book in all of this! We are with you in spirit and love.

Thank you! I actually started writing about this because my neurologist told me I should write a book about my experiences, and this seemed the most manageable first step. :-)
